There is an author that writes a genre I like that is very popular and when I tried to read a book by them by the 3rd chapter I guess the ending and the twist and DNF that book. I don’t want to hear any books by them again #booksky

Over the years I’ve been told how I should read Walden. How much I’d love it. How much I reminded people of that book. I finally read it, or part of it, about 5 years ago. And I just got increasingly frustrated, turned off. That dude? They thought I’d feel kinship to Thoreau. Sheesh. And Ayn Rand 😖

The funniest thing is I remember nothing about the book but my rage. And it was like at the height of Da Vinci Code fever. The only other book that made me as angry was Atlas Shrugged. That was when I tried to write Ayn Rand hate mail and learned she was, in fact, dead.

You don’t *have* to read, like, anything. That book you feel like you should read some day? Just don’t read it. Unless you are really into literature, & like a *specific kind* of literature, there is no reason to you to read Ulysses. Not every book is for everybody. Let yourself off the hook.

If you’re over 30, quote this with some life advice 🤌🏼

If St. Peter isn't shelling out for a hotel and transit, Sabu ain't taking that booking.

Sabu should stay on brand and no show the afterlife.

About a year ago, I took a weekend walk with Splash and talked about an idea for a T. rex book, but “ah, I don’t think I can write it, not me, although…” Now I’m finishing up the manuscript for that book. Today we took a walk and I started talking about this book idea I’m not sure I can pull off…

Burgers of USA. Definitely recommend the Gage’s burger in Chicago, definitely one of the best I’ve had in America! Have no idea what that book is, but a burger on the front cover is good enough reason to read it.

I reread Waking the Moon (Elizabeth Hand) for the first time in ~20 years after reading it obsessively as a kid and it was such an uncanny jolt. So many of my lodestone figures and curiosities are just right there on the page. Who would I even be if I hadn’t found that book the year it came out?

3 reasons to pitch the final book in a series: 1. To boost sales of that book. 2. Chance to pitch past series books some readers haven't bought yet. 3. Chance to pitch your next series. #WritingCommunity #BookSky📚💙

When the Atlantic published the LibGen search tool, I was surprised to find one of my mother's academic books from the 1990s there. I wrote about the long road she traveled to write that book, the authors' case against Meta, and the value of the words in a book. www.bostonglobe.com/2025/05/11/o...

It arose from years of perseverance and deep insight into human relationships. AI treats it like any other bundle of commodified words.

That book should be pulped. It's preposterous on it's face. We don't have cancer research right now in this country because of these goons.

Headline: Restoring Trust in Public Health
Frances Lee & Stephen Macedo

To that end, Trump should nominate Stanford University’s Dr. Jay Bhattacharya to lead the National Institutes of Health. Bhattacharya exemplifies qualities that were lacking in our nation’s scientific leadership during the pandemic. The ostracism and condemnation he faced for his dissenting views provides a vivid illustration of elite failures to live up to their own deepest values.

Episode 8 of Andor That may have been the greatest 49 minutes of Star Wars since the Clone Wars So much emotion, drama, action and just really makes me wish that Book of Boba Fett had the writing that Andor has Easily one of my favorite shows of all time 🔥

The good news: I'll have a new Mörk Borg adventure in print at UKGE The bad news: the indd file for It Came From The Swamp is corrupted so I probably won't ever be able to print that book

Wait wait wait, people thought Expedition 33 was an indie game and now they're made when they realized it isn't? Is UE5 so visually ubiquitous people really thought this thing that booked Daredevil for the lead was an indie game? Even calling it "AA" is debatable.

Slowly but surely coming to terms with the reason there isn't as much Shantae fanart as there could be (especially the other half-genies) is because the artbook never broke mainstream! Like, the Shantae wiki doesn't even show half the things I saw in that book. WHAT ARE WE DOING?

I FOUND A SHANTAE ART BOOK IN THE WILD BUT THAT PRICE IS ABSURD ;~;

The front cover of “The Art of Shantae,” an art book I thought for a while didn’t exist because of how rare it is.

This English sentence ends in 5 prepositions, and is correct: “Daddy, what did you bring that book that I don’t want to be read to out of up for?” Is there anyone out there able to identify the prepositions, and the purpose of each? Just shows you how wacky English can be!

FGTV is one of those situations where you can totally judge that book by its cover. I already knew who that dude was, and everything my kids tell me just confirms that and more. "He voted for Trump." "He was in a rap group."

As an academic author, it periodically it breaks through your psychologically defenses that books like this will always sell 10,000% more than any monograph you devote a decade of your life to writing.

This guy is like if one of the "why I am resigning my commission" company grades was made SECDEF by a monkey's paw wish.

Authors/Writers, write that book. After focusing on more bookish areas on social media, I was shocked. When I see posts stating what the OPs hates to see in a book, I tried to take notes. Then, I realized something. (1\2 🧵)
