It’s still so funny that the initial story of people finding out JK Rowing’s writing pseudonym was “how can a normie person and first time novelist write something this good????” only for it to actually be that someone who worked for Rowling leaked the pseudonym and then it got told to the press
Identification
Rowling's authorship was revealed by The Sunday Times on 13 July 2013 after it investigated how a first-time author "with a background in the army and the civilian security industry" could write such an assured debut novel. The Sunday Times enlisted the services of Oxford University's professor Peter Millican and Pittsburgh's Duquesne University professor Patrick Juola, whose software programs ran analyses of the novel and other Rowling works, comparing them with the works of other authors. However, it was
later reported that Rowling's authorship had been leaked to a Sunday Times reporter via Twitter by the friend of the wife of a lawyer at Russells Solicitors, who had worked for Rowling. The firm subsequently apologised and made a "substantial charitable donation" to the Soldiers' Charity as a result of legal action brought by Rowling.

Ruby on the ferry this afternoon in Seattle. I’m an ocean away today, but she’s so cute in this proof-of-life photo my wife sent that I just had to share.

After giving my new talk at a meet up last week, I had two early-career developers ask how I researched the material for the talk. They were *shocked* that I used search engines. They do not use search engines. They use ChatGPT for EVERYTHING despite admitting it is often wrong. 🥲

Transparent water on the NES? Yes please! Subtle effect, but I think it works quite well. The only problem now is that I need to implement water physics... #nes #nesdev #homebrew #gamedev #indiedev

If you're the type of person who wants to get beyond the headlines, you're in good company: we've teamed up with our friends at @altusds.bsky.social to talk about COBOL, the high stakes of government modernization efforts, and why AI alone can't rebuild legacy systems.

We’ve modernized legacy government systems. We know what it takes. DOGE’s plan to migrate SSA’s COBOL systems without understanding is a disaster waiting to happen. Here’s why DOGE will fail — and why it matters. 🔗 https://www.wethebuilders.org/posts/what-it-really-takes-to-migrate-cobol

A digital graphic with a black background featuring green cascading code resembling binary. In the center, white text reads: "What it really takes to migrate COBOL and why DOGE will fail." At the bottom left, the We The Builders logo is displayed alongside their email addresses: media@wethebuilders.org and submissions@wethebuilders.org.

The dozen open trans rights petitions are linked to by @whatthetrans.com and my own petition aggregator. Only one has breached the 100K signatures needed to trouble Parliament. In times like these, they all should. whatthetrans.com/compilation-... augeas.eu.pythonanywhere.com (shares appreciated)
Plot off signatures for pro-trans Parliamentary Petitions. Only two of 12 have seen major surges since the Supreme court ruling, and only one has breached 100K.

Ok I’m going to have Code Veronica done by the end of the week without a doubt… Kerron is too slow to keep up (sad) so I’m going to let him catch up — he has to finish RE3 and all of CV — before I move onto RE0. Thinking of doing a Chris playthrough on Director’s Cut since I did Jill in REmake. 👀

I think this is probably my favorite photo I took of @glitchfur.net at #LVFC25 It was spur of moment thing so I had a fraction of a second to take it, but it came out pretty good, crisp and dramatic looking. Plus the rim lighting on the fur I'm really happy with too!

And a few photos :) As usual: 3D sculpted in Blender, printed with plant based resin, primed and painted with acrylics.
Photo of a figure of Cirrus, a blue western dragon wearing glasses and holding a book in his left hand. The feet are resting on a pile of books and the wings are quite spread out.

Mouth of the dragon 🐲🐉🐍 [2022] #zelda #legendofzelda #botw #breathofthewild
A digital painting of the Dracozu River area from BotW. Link sits perched on top of a dragon statue, wearing the Barbarian armor and holding a spear loosely in his left hand. The viewer looks up at him from below through the plants at the base of the statue; the open maw of the stone dragon’s head which leads to the shrine can be seen in the background. The piece is rendered in misty warm and cool green hues.
