When Van Jones of all people starts calling out "progressives," you know there's a big problem. While he miscategorizes the benevolence of "progressives," there's a lot of sense being spoken here. "Progressives" are due for a reckoning.

Very much appreciated this from Van Jones. open.substack.com/pub/vanjones...

And just like that, the Dem party becomes the party of fiscal conservatives. I know a lot of Dems, myself included, who are fiscal conservatives but social progressives. No way are you a repub voter and fiscally conservative anymore (actually for decades already).

TACO discourse reminded me about how so much online discourse is just getting angry at things out of context. I see progressives questioning talking about TACO as it could encourage Trump to do bad things. But it was never meant that way It's purely a trader thing. Not political to begin with.

Letting former GOP activists/politicians who are running the “never Trump” grift into the Democratic Party is a mistake. Their only objective is to make the party into the Nixon era GOP and leave Progressives even further out in the wilderness. Don’t fall for it.

As far as I’m concerned, all are welcome. Welcome to the light, Joe Walsh. This is 🔥 @walshfreedom.bsky.social

Centrists can always make a buck by telling party leaders that progressives are wrong. It doesn’t make the centrists anything but money-grubbing opportunists.

Just got back from the centrist rally. Amazing turnout. www.semafor.com/article/06/0...

It's a little odd that progressives don't give Khanna more flak for his shilling for the Silicon Valley. www.politico.com/newslett….
ELON MUSK has been the Democratic Party’s boogeyman since shortly after President DONALD TRUMP deputized him as a top adviser.

But the billionaire’s recent breaks with the GOP — Musk ripped Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” as a “disgusting abomination” on X this week and threatened to “fire all politicians” who backed it — are complicating the party’s portrayal of him as a chainsaw-wielding, bureaucracy-breaking villain.

A few Democrats are eager to welcome Musk, who said he voted for former President JOE BIDEN in 2020 and gave a tour of SpaceX to then-President BARACK OBAMA, back into the fold.

Rep. RO KHANNA (D-Calif.), who represents Silicon Valley and has known Musk for over a decade, said Democrats should “be in a dialogue” with Musk, given their shared opposition to the GOP’s megabill.

“We should ultimately be trying to convince him that the Democratic Party has more of the values that he agrees with,” Khanna said. “A commitment to science funding, a commitment to clean technology, a commitment to seeing international students like him.”

Why even bother with long-run economic change & industrial policy if you don't get the chance to see it through? Biden went all in on economic change, giving other progressives confidence to back things like industrial policy. But after the Democrats loss many are questioning whether it's worth it?

🗽 | NEW REPORT: Why are progressives losing elections, even when the economy is growing? We went to Washington to speak to Biden's former White House staff and other officials to find out where it all went wrong. Read here: www.ippr.org/articles/its...

It’s not as if American xenophobia is anything new. The right, certainly, but also many “progressives,” have stunk of it for years.

@boldprogressives.org You’re making a mistake allowing division in the Democratic Party. David Hogg’s ‘fix’ alienates blocks of people; so does the DNC’s call to remove him. U need 2 find the actual problem + solutions together & fast. Get expert facilitators & get to work & on task.

Republicans: “We’re the face-eating leopard party.” Progressives: “What if the Democrats became the anti-leopard party?” Abundance: “No, stupid, the Democrats should become the feeding shelter cats to coyotes party. How is this not obvious to you? Haven’t you looked at any polls?”

This is deranged on multiple levels 1) Further left Dems turned out for Harris & Biden per exit polling & voter data The votes were gettable & HARRIS MOSTLY GOT THOSE VOTES! Stop accepting the weird 3rd Way framing of progressives not showing up 2) Biden larded his agenda w cookies for both

Just saying: the votes are clearly gettable. What they are NOT is take-for-granted-able. We have been told again and again "No cookie for you, the moderates will get mad." Like, okay, but you just said you need my help. Did you change your mind, or...?

The door's wide open to set progressive terms of debate about the economy, here in the UK. So why aren't progressives taking this chance to bring about a once-in-a-generation reset Overton window? My latest Substack takes up the cause!! campaignsalience.substack….
Why has the left failed to fix the BBC’s economic Bias?

campaignsalience.substack.com

Why has the left failed to fix the BBC’s economic Bias?

The Labour Party has put itself in a headlock based on lies, disinformation and ideological bias. Yet progressives are inexcusably silent about "what needs to be done" to change the terms of debate.

In 2016, 20 and 24 progressives consistently talked about how a revolution was coming, how the youth would swing hard left, how Bernie and AOC etc would pull so many ppl to the polls that there would be a landslide of progressive candidates which would put an end to right wing/centrist ideas. 🧵
