The Astronomy feeds now include 11 (!!!) brand new specific subfeeds! 🔭 The subfeeds try to cover every part of astronomy research with at least one feed. All subfeeds automatically crosspost to the main Astronomy feed, too! Here's a thread with links to all of them ⬇️

In the Great Hercules Cluster (M13), three relatively dark lanes nearly 120 degrees apart seemingly form a propeller. This was first reported by Bindon Stoney in 1850. Globular clusters may look the same but each has its own special traits. #astronomy #astrophotography #dwarf3
This is the globular cluster M13 taken with the Dwarf 3 scope. A total of 165 30sec exposures were taken and stacked.
We zoom in on the cluster and decrease the exposure to bring out the “propeller” in the core.
The propeller is indicated by the 3 red lines.

I'm hoping to get better at this, but I restacked and processed some old M51 (last year's) data with the new Siril 1.4 beta version. It truly is a pleasure to use! #Astrophotography #Siril
M51 3.5 hours of integration. Processed with Siril 1.4 and some final sharpening with Photoshop.

Video from the deorbit burn of a Falcon9 last night. Shooting at f/1.8, 85mm, and ISO 25600. Result is pretty noisy. I was adjusting the camera to keep the rocket centered. The bright object that it passes is Jupiter (mag -2). #astrophotography #rocket

Stacking multiple photos reduces noise and enhances details in #Astrophotography. The software I use to do this is listed at astropotamus.com/software

As promised, I'm back again with a fresh solar image. The big sunspot is around the bend and should be visible with eclipse glasses soon! Fingers crossed for some flares and aurora fun! Details + full res: buff.ly/zRwqYfr #sun #sunspots #astrophotography #photography #space #telescope 🔭 📷 🧪
A full disk solar image captured in monochrome and colorized to be orange. Small sunspots dot the surface, but there is a large one coming into view from the left side.

Arp 269 is a quite interesting interacting galaxy pair consisting of NGC 4490 (aka the Cocoon Galaxy) and NGC4485. chip Arp categorized this pair as "double or multiple galaxies wrung connected arms". bit.ly/4lB3t68 🔭📷#astrophotography 📷📷

The Leo Triplet captured from my dark site in southern France last week 😊🔭🇫🇷 It was shot on the EdgeHD 8 with Hyperstar at f/2 on a moonless night under Bortle 4 skies. The total integration time is just 2 hours using a QHY183C cam without any filter. @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social#Astrophotography
Image of the Leo Triplet a group of three galaxies in the constellation of Leo. The Leo Triplet consists of M66, M65 and NGC 3628 and is also referred to as the M66 group. This small group of galaxies is about 35 million light years away from Earth.
