Gliophorus cf. psittacinus Based upon current ITS sequences on the west coast of North America we have at least 3 genetically distinct mushrooms going as the "Parrot Mushroom," called so due to its dizzying array of colors from chartreuse to orange to pink. #mushrooms #fungi #fungifriends #mendocino

I found a mushroom! πŸ„πŸ“·
Photograph of a single mushroom growing in raindrop covered grass. It has a thick fluffy pale stem and a brown cap that has yet to unfurl but seems to be trying to.

I know this is in the Boletopsis genus & didn't note any spruce nearby, only Douglas Fir & Madrone. Leaning B. grisea or the unnamed species Michael Kuo mentioned in his 2014 Mushroom Expert article on B. leucomelaena. Link πŸ‘‡ Collected & dried for dyeing purposes for a friend. #FungiFriends
The underside of the Boletopsis is the coolest part. The top is a dark color with texture that aids in blending in. I remember finding this same species in the same place a few years ago but didn't document it at the time. So far this year I've found it in 3 distinct locations but in the same general area of Banner Forest Heritage Park so far this year. Found in the same area as golden and winter chanterelles.

Ochre Cushion, Trichoderma pulvinatum, parasitizing this Red-Belted Conk, Fomitopsis pinicola. Love me some fungi on fungi action! Continuing the theme is an unknown species of Elfin Saddle from the Helvella genus being parasitized by Hypomyces cervinigenus. #FungiFriends #ParasiticFungi #Fungi
Ochre Cushion, Trichoderma pulvinatum, parasitizing this Red-Belted Conk, Fomitopsis pinicola which parasitized this fallen Douglas Fir. Based on the orientation, it initially emerged when the now fallen over tree was still standing. Image is a focus stacked composite of 4-6 pictures taken with my Canon 70D DSLR. I stacked a lot of pictures this weekend and my notes are atrocious because they only exist in my jumbled up headspace...
Elfin Saddle from the Helvella genus being parasitized by Hypomyces cervinigenus. Without the cap color details it is difficult to confirm the species of the fungi being parasitized. Image is a focus stacked composite of 4-6 pictures taken with my Canon 70D DSLR.

I’ve cropped and posted about half of what I shot today and I’m done for the day. I may get out again tomorrow I may spend the rest of the week cropping and posting.πŸ“·πŸ„ #FungiFriends #mushrooms #sporepunk
Under side of a small, orange mushroom, probably a deceiver; about a half an inch across
Probably turkeytails. Concentric rings of browns and white
White club or coral fungus
Small red/orange fungi, probably Candy Caps.

Discovered a beautiful Polypore yesterday! It's silvery-white, and it had distinct blue tinges to its surface. I think it might be Cyanosporus caesius ("Blue Cheese Polypore"), which occurs in PNW. Round dense white pores underneath (photo to follow in comments). #fungifriends #mycology #polypore
A silvery white, very flat and thin polypore mushroom, a bit like an albino turkey tail with pale blue rings instead of brown, sits on a brown wooden shelf amidst some green algae, mud, and pale brown conifer needles. It looks very much like half an oyster shell, which is what I initially mistook it for; I thought it was an oyster shell from the cove, dropped by a raccoon from one of the doug fir trees after one of their ocean foraging expeditions, but I crouched down confused about how it fell onto the shelf *under* the bench - they're always eating all manner of sea creatures up there and raining bits down on my plants, but the metal grating of the bench seives the bits out so they don't reach the benches underneath intact.

Playing with the magnifier feature on my iPhone in between removing invasive Scotch Broom in Francis/King Regional Park yesterday. The mosses are wonderful at the moment, and amongst them are tiny toadstools! #fungifriends

A very blue Cortinarius found under live oak trees. About a dozen in this grouping, some larger than my hand. Even with so many, so large, many are still unknown species. For your #MushroomMonday #fungifriends #mushrooms

I think on the right here I have mostly Trichia varia, and on the left I have Hemitrichia clavata. #slimemold #myxomycetes #fungifriends
A crack in a fallen tree. The right side is filled with yellow-brown lightbulb shaped slime mold spore heads. On the left are some clusters of orange-brown pear-shaped slime mold spore heads on stalks.
