129 of 43 was a slight improvement on recent nights. Spotted a Plume on the gutter above the window so climb on bench to retrieve it and was pleased to find it was a Triangle Plume nfg and not one I was expecting here. Nice Raspberry ripple Vestal. Tried Death’s-head lure, no luck though. #TeamMoth
Triangle Plume.
Vestal moth. Lovely Raspberry ripple coloured wings.
Skull I picked up on yesterday’s walk. Haven’t worked out who it came from yet. Cleaned it up and left it to dry overnight in front of the moth trap

Meal Moth (Pyralis farinalis) to light in Vlaams-Brabant, Belgium. A striking moth and seemingly unmistakable, but some pale examples of Scarce Meal Moth (Pyralis lienigialis) could easily be overlooked as this species. The later still at large in the South Midlands perhaps? #TeamMoth

Was thinking Small Mottled Willow were fading from the trap as I opened it this morning. 13 in a line round the rim of the underside of the lid made me wonder again - final total 91 - easily beating my previous 53... Here's 7.5 of them #teammoth #cambsmoths

#teammoth The VC80 trap didn't disappoint - my first adult Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing and first Dusky-lemon Sallow (scarce in Borders) - 3 new macros and a new adult! We allow our Wych Elm to grow until Dutch elm disease turns it into firewood - good also for the White-letter Hairstreak.

This #475 Rivula sericealis (Straw Dot) was by the front door last night as I went to put the #teammoth trap out. Only my second ever Satin Grass-moth and a late Mottled Rustic were the highlights of an improved (hopefully, improving) catch last night.

A calm night produced dividends in the moth trap: my second garden record of Scarce Bordered Straw (1st was in 2024), as well as Pine Carpet and Small Mottled Willow, which I haven’t seen for a few weeks. #teammoth @pmandrews1973.bsky.social @bcwarwickshire.bsky.social
Scarce Bordered Straw
Pine Carpet, only my second for the garden.

A bit of Leaf-mining yesterday delivered this on Alder. It’s #474 Stigmella glutinosae/alnetella. I can’t take it further without the inhabitant, unfortunately, exactly the same as last year. #teammoth
Leaf-mine of Stigmella glutinosae/alnetella (White-barred Alder Dot/Silver-barred Alder Dot) on Alder.

Needs the larva to confirm which
