All to prevent my dogs and the nextdoor dogs from starting trouble every time they see each other.

I have wonderful nextdoor neighbors. They are never mad about my crazy dog barking at them. They leave gifts for my baby and Christmas cookies. They put out a "this witch beat cancer" flag at Halloween. And I need to not learn anything else about them.

about 1 hour agoKeeping track of neighborhood meetings in JC is exhausting. Some advertise only by car windshield fliers, some by Facebook, or instagram, or RedNote (Chinese TikTok), or email lists, or Nextdoor.
All that's missing is smoke signals, telegraph, and messenger pigeons.

Social media was sold to us as a way to maintain current and reconstitute old friendships, but it got us so hooked on winning the favorability of people outside of our irl spaces. SM wants you to care more about the likes of someone 500 kms away more than you care about your neighbour nextdoor.

Whew. Just saw a Nextdoor post that said, "I'm trying to rehome my baby while I suffer from stage 4 cancer" and until I opened the email, I thought someone was trying to rehome a human baby through Nextdoor. (It was a dog.)
