"Fietsvlonders" are mobile bike platforms designed to turn a car parking spot into urban bike parking. They’re modular, moveable, and cheap, making it easy to test better use of public space. When car storage gets swapped for bikes, entire streets start to feel different.

I sent a couple photos from last night's bike ride to a friend in Rotterdam who said it looked like the Netherlands, which suggests that I may have misrepresented the suburban Dartmouth cycling experience.

Nearly a week later, this is still (unnecessarily?) closed mid block without appropriate signage or detour route. This section has become a parking lot for construction workers. How many of us in #BikeHfx have reported this now?!

Riding to and from #KidicalMassHfx today was a stark reminder of how patchy our bike network is, not to mention this part of the new Almon protected lane that was closed without warning, along with the sidewalk, which meant our 5yo suddenly had to ride in traffic.

Montreal now has tool that shows how safe an intersection is based on design, traffic calming, traffic control, visibility, other hazards, and whether there is separate bike infrastructure. It allows the city to prioritize the most dangerous intersections for safety measures. Halifax NEEDS this!
