My heart is hurting because a client I’ve been seeing for 8 years isn’t able to book me anymore as the new NDIS won’t allow it. We’ve developed such a close bond, he isn’t able to satisfy himself, and this is an enormous blow to his quality of life 💔 Please vote conscientiously 🙏🏼

🚨 What can be learned at the intersection of crisis management & administrative burdens? is out now and open access! 🚨 Written with the v much missed @gemcarey.bsky.social. For folks researching crisis management, admin burden, disability & the NDIS. Short 🧵 with link 👇
What Can Be Learned at the Intersection of Crisis Management and Administrative Burdens? Evidence From a Systematic Review of the Governance of Australia’s National Disability Insurance Scheme During COVID-19 by Nicholas Bromfield and Gemma Carey in Social Policy and Administration
The abstract for the paper, reading: 'Crisis management is a field that evaluates and solves crisis and disaster responses. Whilst the effectiveness of the ideal-type parameters of crisis management and administration has been well examined, crisis responses create administrative burdens, particularly for marginalised groups, that must be navigated. This paper brings together the administrative burden and crisis response literature, presenting a systematic review of research into Australia's National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) during COVID-19 to answer: What burdens emerged during the COVID-19 response for people with a disability? Why did these burdens arise? Were they potentially avoidable? And who was harmed by these burdens? We find that NDIS workers and participants experienced considerable administrative burdens during the implementation of the Australian pandemic response and co-produced the limited successes found in NDIS COVID-19 measures. Consequently, we argue that a crisis equity agenda should anticipate multiplied burdens for marginalised populations, plan to mitigate them and prioritise and assist the most disadvantaged in navigating stressed policy systems during a crisis response.'

PLEASE, I beg you, do not vote for Labor. These ghouls have abandoned every last shred of the so-called "Labor values" that last existed sometime around 1985. They teamed up with the LNP and *ONE NATION* to cut the NDIS. They do not care about the most vulnerable people in our communities.

Albo asked about jobseeker payments: "My government is a compassionate government that has provided support [...] So I reject the characterisation that you put forward." You mean the $28.10/fortnight Jobseeker went up, according solely to indexation and not ACOSS feedback? Hey Albo, FUCK. YOU.

A screenshot of The Guardian's live election coverage:

Our reporter Dan Jervis-Bardy, who’s with the PM, asks about another vulnerable cohort – those living on jobseeker payments.

Dan asks whether the PM will commit to raising the rate in a second term of government, when living under the poverty line has significant impacts on health outcomes. Albanese says:

"We did increase the rate. I make this point as well that one of the things that we have done is to provide opportunities for career paths into jobs free TAFE at making an enormous difference in opening up those opportunities.

My government is a compassionate government that has provided support. We do so within the fiscal parameters as well of budgetary policy. So I reject the characterisation that you put forward."

A big risk for a second term Albanese government will be continuing to expand state operated and subsidised parts of the economy (childcare, Medicare, the NDIS, defence) without improving state capacity. For whatever reason, money spent in all of these areas has a tendency to go up in smoke

Dear blue-identified political party in the upcoming #AustralianFederalElection, I might have been impressed by your offer of umbrellas if you hadn't hogged precious space in the carpark with your vulgar admobile, and also if you weren't against NDIS. #DisabledPeopleVoteToo

Gloating because you get an NDIS package by telling everyone who can’t get one anymore due to the cuts that there hasn’t been any cuts it’s just the “fraud and rorting” that’s been fixed is a special kinda “I’m right jack so why should I care if you’re not” arsehole move.

The PM says he wants Labor to be "pro-aspiration". What about the 3.5 million people in poverty? Or the 2.6 million kids in underfunded public schools? Or the 7 million renters paying soaring rents? Or the disabled people booted from the NDIS? Where's his aspiration for them?

I’d love to be able to say, ok today I need a carer, please send someone. The system doesn’t work like that though. Especially when you don’t have NDIS :/
