I made a Loona box. You can do this at home - get Mod Podge, a box, scissors, pictures, & foam brushes. Use your own art & you can sell them. A lot of the old crafting supplies get overlooked because people think of them as ā€œoldā€ but you can make anything cool again. #loona #art #lostart_8xup
You see an old cigar box with tons of cut out Loona’s decoupaged on to it. They’re In a rough gradient yellow-ish to blue-ish with pink-ish in the middle. This is on its side facing the top cover.
You see an old cigar box with tons of cut out Loona’s decoupaged on to it. They’re In a rough gradient yellow-ish to blue-ish with pink-ish in the middle.

This is its normal orientation.

This is the inside which I painted with black gesso (except the top I inside). I wanted to throw pencils and stuff in here and I figured it’d just get all marked up - thus the black.

I used to draw in pencil (sometimes I still do). First one was from a comic I didn’t finish. Oops. The obligatory Maxx fan art may ID me as a GenX. And then yes, Lost once had an anthropomorphic form. Sometimes I still use it. The first 3 are 12-15 years old. Bonus: art table. #lostart_8xup
A boy sits under a tree with a goblin-like faerie sneaking out from behind the trunk over his head. The boy(early teen) is in jeans and t-shirt. The goblin has a bow in its hair and very long claws that are scratching the tree bark.
The Maxx fan art. I think I copied a comic page so here’s an overly muscled brick-house built character with claws for middle fingers looking left. His face is covers in a weird mask
With stylized teeth. He has enormous boots with an ankle ring on them.
A dragon anthropomorph wearing a scarf fiddles with an 80s style sci-fi terminal. He’s wearing pants, shoes, and a Hawaiian print shirt that kind of pulls around and buttons on the far right. There are a lot of pipes and wires hanging in the background. There’s something on his belt that is either lightsaber or flashlight - better put it up to your face and have a good luck to find out. This is actually one of Lost Dragon’s many iterations.
You see a clutter-cozy art space that needs to be cleaned up a bit before I can start gluing Loona’s to the cigar box. There’s a stool in the middle and a bunch of storage on either side. The table is filled with a lot of different projects from my scattered, scattered mind. I’m getting ready to blaze it and clean the entire thing. By blaze it I mean I’m just going to clean it. I’m already goofy enough without being high.

Oh, I've been doing things the hard way - AGAIN. I'd always ignored vector line art tools because I hate moving points. I didn't realize you could convert a raster layer to a vector layer & then use the "correct line" tool to manipulate line weights SO EASILY (this is in CS Paint). #lostart_8xup
A white dragon looks left, 3 earrings on his right ear, a nose horn, some big swoopy ears, a truncated horn on his left, he's got a slight smile and is looking at nothing in particular (so it could be a cheeseburger - or it could be the answer to life, the universe and everything). This was really just me playing with Clip Studio Paint's tools that have to do with vectors.

You can convert a raster layer to a vector layer and then use the "correct line" tool to easily paint over any lines you want to be fatter or thinner, erase, etc. and it's all vector art.. You could then turn that back into a raster or leave it). It's pretty handy.. Like - a huge time saver.

A height lineup for a comic I'm working on. @razzek.bsky.social * Changing style to one that won't take me 1000 years to draw. * Setup: Dragons, hellcats, & wild-rats in a post-industrialist wild-magic setting drama meant for YA+ * There will be full alt text for every page. #lostart_8xup WIP
A rat with squinty eyes and spots on their neck has a minigun strapped to their back as they smile. The text "Razz" is in front of it. This is Razz's character that I've taken liberties with so please go visit them at the @ I listed in the post. I'm pretty sure their character does not usually carry a minigun. I tried to get the rat nose close-ish to a rat nose. They will drive a line rider and probably sport a Hawaiian shirt but I need to go see their reference sheet again first.
From left to right -

A short character in a mask with horns on it carries a stick. He's a ten year old dragonet, his name is Kriss & he's about 4 feet tall. He pokes things with his stick a lot - testing it. Sometimes he's seen with Lost.

Next up is Razz the rat with a minigun on her back. Razz rides the lines between burrows, delivering messages and shipments that need to be delivered fast. The line rider is house and vehicle - a rocket powered conveyance that rides on old power pylon lines that still span between burrows. It has no control besides go and stop.

Ella - the hellcat looking long-suffering, loyal companion and land transport operator. She'll drive a strider - a robotic vehicle that's both conveyance and home, taking valuable supplies between burrows and bringing supplies from the ruined wastes. Hellcats are from Sodrim - a tower city in the desert far to the north of Lost's burrow. When she smiles it's all teeth. She's 5 feet tall.

Lastly, another attempt at Lost in which I gave him his hair back. That is a wing to his right not his tail. Lost is a resident of the Dragon Burrow, a meritocratic society full of dragons. The burrow is surrounded by columnar basalt which keeps the wild-magic out. Lost makes a thin living in the lower burrow putting old scrap computers back together & restoring game cartridges. Sitting on his haunches he's 8 feet tall. Upper Burrow buildings are sized for dragons but the lower burrow was "renovated" to accommodate humans so he has to duck to get in most of the time.

Are these final designs, no, but some are getting close. Yes I can draw hands but I'm yet again running out of time on Sunday.

Remaining (haven't drawn yet):

Gray (a teen dragon who accompanies Lost sometimes). He's often seen tired and draping himself on something, someone, or sprawled somewhere.

Vanrin or Hanrin (or whatever I decide to call him). He's a very large, angry dragon & mid-ranking resident of the Upper Burrow.

Lost found the Umamusume game. Lost is buying the merch. Lost is the reason I eat ramen for dinner. I blame all of Japan - all 123 million people plus their horses - & especially my wife & her friend who introduced me to this. Now I will never know peace. I will only know problems #lostart_8xup
Lost dragon wearing in a Tamago Cross wig and horse-ears headband plays Umamusume the game on his Dapple Uphone. There are a lot of lines under his eyes and I can't tell if he's not slept in a while or if he's just been playing this game for 16 hours straight. Why not both?

Tamago Cross has gray hair and a headband with a big ball on it. Since Lost has ears already now he has 4 - I dunno. I don't make the rules.

It kinda makes me want to give him hair all the time - maybe not horse hair but hey. There's an "official wig" price tag hanging off the wig.
This is the same picture as the other but in color so I've given it the same description. The headband is blue, the hair ribbons are blue and red, the ear cozies are red, the ball is red, Lost is white with blue-gray shadows, the Dapple Uphone is purple. Lost's claws are dark purple with a lighter purple highlight - really they're black but let's call it artistic license. Oh the little hair clips or whatever are gold. There's an "official wig" price tag hanging off the wig that's off-white.

Sorry Loona fans, this isn't the band. I'm getting too much backlog so I started going back to finish things up WIPs. So here's grumpy goth dog in a coloring method I'll never do again lol. Do I care about any other character - no. Sorry. Well, maybe the bee. #lostart_8xup #loona #helluvaboss
It's Loona from Helluvaboss. So it's a kind of goth-y dog looking anthropomorphic character with red sclera because that's a hell thing.

She's wearing a spiked collar and a crop top or halter top or whatever that is called - anyway the straps make a pentacle She has her hand sticking up here sorta going "what". If this were the show she'd have a phone in that hand

Is this on-model NO. lol

Lost be a cartoon please. Thank you. #lostart_8xup
Okay chief I'm a cartoon now.

You see ablue dragon with cell shading. One earring on his right ear with a newly combined symbol that represents 7 times down, 8 times up, or "fall down seven times, stand up 8".

His left horn is busted and truncates in a brass cap . He's got lilac eyes and a fang hanging out because this is cartoon mode. He has ears and back scales that are kind of mane-ish.

In the bottom my signature got fancier.
Okay chief I'm a cartoon now.

So this is the same as the left drawing more or less but it's the lines I went from to color. I lost a couple of horn rivets in the color and gained a better eye on his right side so.. Well, anyway - I draw straight to ink brush because I like it and anything can be erased in digital.

I forget how to draw but Lost doesn't so I gave the pencil to him & he wanted to make fan art at 4AM. Sorry, I can't control the dragon. Anyway, here's a WIP of Madoka Magica fan art. It's a magical girl anime. This character's name is Mami - she's ahead of her peers. WIP WIP W.. #lostart_8xup
An anime styled character wearing puffy sleaves, a beret, a corset waist, a puffy skirt, thigh highs, and boots. She has one arm behind her head and the other to her side. Her eyes aren't colored in yet and the hands are still blocks - both will be fixed in the final. Yes, Lost should have already drawn them but I can't tell him anything, he has to learn experientially.

I dunno about the outfit, I don't design these characters, I just look at the reference.

You should watch Madoka Magica.

Yes, Lost is my OC & yes I'm having my own OC draw for me. This makes perfect sense in the headspace I live in.

I gave the pencil to Lost so he's drawin' himself. Ya know what he can just keep going, he's not bad. Rough sketch - around 1 hour. WIP #lostart_8xup
A very sketchy Lost dragon with one truncated horn and some earrings stands on a pile of rocks overlooking something. Some text in the corner says "You guys coming or what?"

The head has been inked because I love to do that but it's way too early & there are so, so many things to refine and fix. At least I didn't start coloring early this time.

The junction of arms and wings is hard which also makes the breastbone hard because you're trying to merge bird and lizard and mammal too. I tend to stick the breastbone out some and tuck the abs in like an overgrown whippet hound.

For some dumb reason I chose horns shapes that are hard to draw. They're ovaloid ("squashed" flatter on one axis than another) and swept back.

I may give him a mane. I keep giving it to him and taking it away.

In 2024 I drew this for @theianator.bsky.social for fun but I didn't have a tag then & I can't find my post now so.. So.. This is really 2024 art I'm reposting in 2025. šŸ˜… I think I'd like to revisit this now that I see how everyone else draws kobolds. #lostart_8xup
A cartoon-y kobold sorta pirate leans on a bendy rapier.

He's got striped pants and a cravat - and a weird hat - with some shoes that are basically just strips of cloth.. But hey, kobold pirate.

Who's that PokƩmon? Is it Gengar? No... I'll finish this one later. The wobbly lines are because I went ham with the warp tool after noticing Loona is actually bottom heavy & flat chested - I think? Some frames say yes, others say no. I always try to pick out hip bones. WIP WIP #lostart_8xup
Some black and white legs ending in wolf-y feet.

Gee who is it.

Gengar? NO LOST IT'S NOT GENGAR

Loona.. It's Loona again. Half of a Loona really - the bottom half.

Here's she's standing in a pose that I may have to fix because that back leg is.. Probably in need of rotation. Then again females can do things with their knees I can't due to differences in hips so maybe. I dunno. It's a WIP!

This meme could be WIP vs. final but I did beginner vs. intermediate. It's always hard to post art but it's very hard when you just started & each time you post the next one in line is somebody's 60 hour masterpiece. No, it's not a competition but the feels remain Give beginners ā¤ļøs #lostart_8xup

I'm home sick so I added more Loona to my art folder. I remembered I promised to use reference going forward so now she's sorta on-model. It's a lot faster to draw fan art with ref. Collar note: a cylinder in perspective never makes a football (will never have pointy ends). Sketch #lostart_8xup
It's Loona from Helluvaboss.. She's a grumpy hellhound with a spiked collar and pentacle top, here looking at the camera with a hand sticking up.

Cartoons are fun to draw since they're reduced down to lines already.

Here's a couple sketch pages too, including the sketch of Loona before I inked & colored. Since some of the pages were really messy I pasted multiples together into one. It's still messy. Some people post sketches that look like cleaned up line art. I am not one of those people. #lostart_8xup
It's a couple of legs with animal inspired feet and clawed toes.

I was trying to do a cartoon look. I kind of like how it came out. I will not remember how to do this next time.
Ah.. So here's a sketch page that's really 3 or 4 pages glued together because all the other pages were so messy.

It's the sketch of loona from before I inked & colored. Originally she had a word bubble but I decided that'd make the picture stale later so I left it off in the final version. Topical local humor is only funny to me after all.

Then there's some hips. That was just hip practice.

And then lastly I keep experimenting with a look for Ella, an OC that kind of goes with Lost whose look I have not nailed down.

The internet was down all day - AGAIN. The rumor I heard is that workers cut the same cable (AGAIN). Ahem. I am a professional and I used my time productively to express my opinions in interpretive imprecation (and fan art). #helluvaboss #lostart_8xup
Loona the hellhound from Helluva Boss stands there looking grumpy, her trademark look. She's wearing a pentacle crop-top thing and is generally a gray and white & black wolf-looking furry with red sclera. Oh and she's got a spike collar. I left her fangs hanging out because hanging out fangs amuse me.

I didn't have any internet all day due to some construction mistake. It even took out all the cell towers. Sheesh. Lost didn't care, so I followed him around & sketched. He took me over to the burrow walls. It's all columnar basalt & for whatever reason wild etherium won't cross it. #lostart_8xup
Lost won't sit still so he never gets a good sketch. Here's he's sitting on a burrow wall with his tail coiled around a flower trying to attract butterflies. Your scary dragon, ladies and gentlemen.
This natural formation of columnar basalt makes up the dragon burrow walls. These enormous basalt formations were always traditional dragon territory, but after the cataclysm, everyone moved in.

Well, specifically the dragons ALLOWED everyone to move in. They didn't have to but even they aren't keen on what happens out in the wild etherium.

You know, dragons seem scary but they could've let everyone die.

Anyway, here's a section of basalt wall with a couple climbing turtles on it and a sign that says "Dragon Burrow" in Draconic. I wrote it in English underneath for the sketch since I can't read Dragon.

Amazing that a natural feature like this is all that saves us from disaster.

Oh yeah, one time I got into digital sculpting. I think I ran out of trial software and gave up because money. I like the ears. I didn't know what to do for eyes so I went for an ancient Greek statue look. Old art, 2016. I should try it again but ZBrush is so unwieldy for my use. #lostart_8xup

I did a year drawing in an outlined cartoon look let's move to a different style & see what it's like. I tried a classic colored pencil technique - color in tiny circles & use layers. My sister is far better at this. The goal was just to make it look like a natural physical media. #lostart_8xup
A cylinder of scales on some toned paper. The scales are purplish and blue and the edges are kind of ridged. I feel like this could've been pushed farther but it's getting late so..

The OC got tired of waiting. I just realized it was Feb. & I'd done zero art this year. Oops. I'm surprised I don't see more vent art. Y'all holding back? It beats a doomscroll. Anyhow, back to weekend art for me, the neat creature I live with says so. Bonus painting I won't fini. #lostart_8xup
A distorted cartoon dragon stares at the viewer with a lot of symbols in the background. If you squint the symbols are an 8 with a * overlaid with an ↑.. So it's an 8 with a multiply sign with an up arrow - or "8 x up" or "8 times rise" the personal motto of this artist.

7 times fall.
8 times rise.

It reminds us to keep going.
A dragon with big mule ears and glasses looks at the viewer. He's definitely judging you. It's partially painted but I'm not sure where to go from here and ready to move on. This whole thing was just a warmup that got away from me haha.

A study. I picked up an old WIP & applied new knowledge. I tried to use more economy of brush stroke than usual. It is possible to use few brush strokes to create great volume if you know how. I don't. I just have an idea of it. Still a WIP (maybe - or I may just move on again). #lostart_8xup
It's some clouds that get some interest towards the bottom... So if I were to draw something over this the focus would be on the lower right where things became more detailed. In a different color scheme this could be rock or caves or...

The benefit of this type of work is that it's not based on line. Line flattens. Well, that's the theory anyway. Application often eludes me.

This art is 2018(ish) era. I concentrated on my Lost Dragon OC later but I can always return to other things. I save all my old art in case I want to look at something & revisit it later. Keep your old art even if you don't like it anymore. #lostart_8xup
This is a blue tree on an orange background done in the style of a topographic map.. Or in art they would call it a contour line drawing.

I always kind of liked it.
This is a sketch from a sketchbook of a cat skull deformed into a snake skull on a spine with no reference that was part of a Blame! fan art that I never finished. It looks distorted because of the camera angle.
Here are a bunch of characters from a sci-fi comic I didn't start that still exists today in my head but has a lot more dragons in it.

Several heads and a dragon anthro in blue-line with a kidn of Cyberpunk look.
A crow skull on a black feather. The crow skull has a map overlaid it with an eye kind of sketched in with some marker? I'm not sure what I was going for there but the shapes are neat.

(Re-uploads for the tag) This year I kept iterating Lost until I came up with some elements that I liked. Now I'm zeroing in on a design I'll keep. (For real this time?) Anyway, these are some of the prototypes of Lost Dragon. I often like my sketches better than my finished art. #lostart_8xup
A white dragon head - one broken horn. 3 earrings (blue - inscribed with 8*up arrow). It looks at the camera. There's a circular magical design atop its head - decoration or tattoo or...
A dragon head sketch facing left (in profile). 3 tiny earrings, big eyebrow for some reason. Kind of a dog nose - hair though. Sometimes Lost has hair.
A Lost Dragon with a thick muzzle and a cigarette looks out on the landscape of the nothing and an atomic blast reflects in his glasses. His horns are sticking through his helmet and he has an Ace of Club card stuck in a helmet band. He has dog tags. Sometimes I draw this version when I'm feeling angsty or having an anxiety moment.
An abandoned sketch of a dragon sitting sort of like a dog - big wings outstretched, one broken horn - 3 earrings.. There are some different eyes along the side.

One more for the tag. Oh in the last one I posted a picture of my screen. Welp - that’s what I get for doing this for my phone. Woops. Well I can’t edit posts so I’ll uh.. Ok I’ll post a color version of it then. #lostart_8xup
Lost has a hellcat girlfriend he doesn’t know he has. Sometimes I draw her like a regular cat. A hellcat.

So here’s a gray tabby with horns lounging on the end of a staff.
I liked the design of Loona from Helluvaboss even though I haven’t seen the show.

She’s a white hell-hound in a sorta ripped up goth outfit with gray finger gloves. There’s a pentacle strap top with spike collar.

I have her posed so she is using her fingers to make herself smile. She never smiles so I thought it’d be funny.
Sometimes I work on making Lost a more dragon-shaped dragon.

He’s got a western dragon shape, kind of white scales with a blue tint and here he’s casting a spell since there’s a big ankh glyph over his head. He has a broken horn.

The ankh is really my bod to the Ultima Dragons Internet Chapter (it’s an Ultima fan club). I’m a member that’s why I’m Lost Dragon.

He is either getting ready to bite us or he’s sneezing or yawning. Probably yawning.
This is a part of a character sheet I was working on but the design changed so much after I made it I never wholly bothered to finish it.

This is an early version of Lost colored up in colors that I didn’t keep. I also abandoned the tattoo which I was calling a scorch mark. I did keep the 8 Times Rise slogan which he now bears on his earrings.

The slogan there reminds me to keep going.

It’s the last part of a saying -

Fall down 7 times, stand up 8.
